Excellence in Estate Planning® began as a reaction to the pressing lack of general guidance or education for people who need estate planning for themselves or their loved ones. Before Excellence in Estate Planning®, the typical client who wanted to plan their estate had three possible ways to find an attorney:
- use a recommendation from an attorney used in the past
- use a friend or family member’s recommendation
- blindly make an appointment based on an advertisement
With the latter two of these methods, the quality of estate planning attorney that you find basically amounts to a roll of the dice. After all, even if a family member or friend has a good experience with a particular attorney, that doesn’t mean the same attorney will have the right experience or skill to address your or your loved one’s unique estate planning needs. And while many, many attorneys will refer their clients to the right choice of estate planning attorney, there are unfortunately some attorneys who may let their referral choice be influenced by reasons other than a client’s best interest.
As a client, how are you to know that your attorney is truly the best choice? Thanks to Excellence in Estate Planning®, there is now a better way.
Our mission is to remove the uncertainty for you when it’s time to choose a provider for quality estate planning needs. We seek to provide you with the tools and the education to be able to answer two key questions with full confidence:
- What are the most important questions to ask a potential attorney before starting my or my loved one’s estate planning?
- How can I be sure that a particular attorney is the best choice for my or my loved one’s unique situation?
The educational materials provided on this site have been designed to fill in any potential knowledge gaps that you may have. After reading the materials on this site, you will know the difference between an attorney and an estate planning attorney, the milestones in life when you need to be concerned about or update your planning, the common types of estate planning options available, and some ways to recognize the difference between quality and subpar estate planning. You will know the right questions to ask a potential estate planning attorney, and you will be able to recognize when a second opinion (or a third) may be in order.
In addition to educational materials, Excellence in Estate Planning® also provides free access to our national database of quality estate planning attorneys. This isn’t simply a long list of providers, either! We include only one attorney per geographic area, and each attorney in our database has been carefully selected to comply with the highest standards and customer service. You don’t just need to take our word for it, though. Use your new educational tools to evaluate our recommendations for yourself! You will quickly see that Excellence in Estate Planning® isn’t just our name – it’s our guiding philosophy.
